A chapter of your life is NOT your whole story. ~Until She Flies

Isn’t that the best news that God can use your chapter and make it into a new and beautiful story!

While hunting for the many lovenotes from God, this devastating sight of destruction caught my attention.
Trust in God and walk by faith, this is only a chapter in your life, not the whole story.

Shards of Broken Pieces

I can’t play any instrument and have that gentle touch as you push each key note on that piano down and out comes a music note, but I have the gentle touch when I hit the keyboard’s button down on my PC and out comes a lovenote from God.

I guess I just play my music differently and hope the tune is one you like and brings always honour and glory to Him alone. We all play our music differently and I hope you have that music in your heart and hide it no longer. I hope you play it and live it well for His glory.

Walking the beach, hunting for lovenotes from God. Because when you are hunting for Him, you will always find Him. When you look for mercy, He shows you the beauty of grace.

And if you are too exhausted of going out walking the journey to hunt for his lovenotes, He will just carry you.

Many times I am homesick for my country and many times I am more then homesick for God and to see Him in the midst of everything. The journey we walk, the journey each has been given and trust me He knows what each of us is going through and you have not slipped His mind.

He sees, He sees it all and no task He gave is too hard to overcome. Though it feels overwhelming and you wonder if He has lost track of you and somehow forgotten you. But if you are a child of God, then all promises that He said are true, or God would be a liar. Since God is not a liar, the promise still holds true. So patiently we wait for His promise to come true that all things work together for good for those who believe in Him.

The beach was full of broken seashells, just shards and pieces of brokenness. All just laying there with no beauty and useless for me to pick one up. The sun was shining, the light beaming and pushing its way through the clouds. A shard of seashell laying beneath my foot. Pearly colors of purple, turquoise and blue were giving it the most beautiful shine.

It is the light…the light has to shine right on this beauty and tiny shard of brokenness.

My feet stopped in the tracks, I bent over, picked it up and held it in my hand.

What beauty that a broken peace of shard can give when the light shines on it.

Have you ever thought about it? Have you ever seen it?

So it is with God. Are you broken? Are you just laying down and overwhelmed, defeated and just simply exhausted? Look up for a moment, remember whose child you are if you have trusted in our Holy God. Do you remember?

The light shines on you. He sees you!

He stops while He walks with you, He bends down, and He picks you up.

You are beautiful! You are a beautiful shard of brokenness, only to shine and perhaps become a piece of art or a piece of a crown, a special vase, or jewelry for the most special occasion.

Don’t ever miss it you pearly shard of broken piece, you are just a piece of His crown for His glory!

Romans 5:3-5 (MSG)

There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!

Jacob-Wrestling God–One Wheeled Plane

While flying across the ocean the captain of the last Delta flight spoke over the speaker, "Please do not be alarmed but there will be emergency vehicles on the ground waiting for us as our hydraulic system is not working on one side."

Say what? No wheels on one side?

I could have panicked right there and then in this tiny seat on this Delta flight. But for the first time I had peace that surpasses all understanding. Still surprised by it as I am usually the person who panics quickly.

I took out my cell phone to open my Bible application and read this one verse over and over until I memorized it by heart. Praying to God that I need to be here for my family, but also trusting if the landing does not go so well.

Psalm 46:7, 11 (MSG)
Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.

I looked out the window and thanked the Lord and trusted His plan. Whatever the outcome would be.

Truly I tell you the devil wanted to steal my joy that day and I had peace that was not of me. I simply turned my fear straight to God.

The captain spoke once more over the speakers to store every single item away as the cabin grew oddly quiet.

"Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
God-of-Angel-Armies protects us."

It was time to land this international plane with a full load of people and it was as angels themselves landed it. I have never had a better landing then this one on one wheel. Not one single bump or shake, it was peaceful!

"Praise the Lord", I shouted out and the entire crew of passengers applauded at once. But the applaud truly goes to the Lord!

So, what to make of this story? What can you take from this?

When you are about to go into a battle, maybe the battle with your finances, your health, your children, marriage, family, depression, etc…

Call out to the Lord with praises and turn your fear to faith. Sing with Psalms to our Holy God.

"Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, God-of-Angel-Armies protects us."

Psalm 46711 MSG

My One Word – RIVER

Happy New Year! I can’t believe we embark on a brand-new year of 2016 and we hope for a brighter future and blessings that can only come from our Holy God. But this is the time to also reflect on last year and to let it go…

The past year had some ups and downs, just like all people in life have.
I lost my dearest friend who I miss daily, I have been betrayed by another friend, and I got to see family from my home country whom I haven’t been able to see for three years and the good-byes always rip open the wound and the heart aches all over.
But I have also so much more to be grateful for and stories of hope and joy. God is so good to us and He makes such melody in my heart.

I believe that many of us have forgotten to play their song. We all have music in our heart, we were meant to praise and sing, to speak of His wondrous works and marvelous creation, His story of redemption and love, grace and mercy…

This time it was nearly impossible to come up with my ONE WORD. I dwelt and dwelt on a word. There are just too many I like…

But then it just hit me…RIVER! My one word this year is RIVER. Because everything and I mean everything flows from a river.

My God, the One and Only is my river. My river of rest, river of joy, river of peace, river of renewal, river of strength, river of change, river of refreshing, river of love, river of hope…

I could go on and on just like the river. It never ends! But you have to make the decision to let it flow through you and be the life giving refreshing water for others. He is my living-water and my prayer is that each person I know will take on this living-water.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (ESV)
“Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.

Psalm 46:4-5 (ESV)
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.

God’s Love Notes

I want to tell you a Christmas story, one that took place 36,000 feet above ground. The long flight from Amsterdam to Atlanta.
During the 10 hours flight you just got to get up and walk a bit in that overcrowded plane or your legs will cramp up.
I got to talk to one lady who was sitting in the middle isle, a very young lady with two small children ages 3 and 5. Their names I won’t forget, River and Journey, both named after stories of the Word. The young lady’s name is Bethany.

You know what is interesting, you know when you have a believing soul sister on board. I have never met Bethany before, but we immediately started talking about our Lord. She told me about their mission work in China and that she is travelling back from Tanzania. She had to get away, to help her 5 year old cope. You see, Bethany, with tears in her eyes, talked about her husband-man as he had died only 8 weeks ago. She misses him so very much and now a single mom of two beautiful small children.

My heart was so heavy for her and what do you say to a beautiful soul so young and no husband-man by her side.

I leaned over to her seat while standing in the isle and we just hugged and I prayed. Praying and hugging, loving and caring 36,000 feet over the wild raging ocean.
Her tears were flowing and His peace came over us.

Bethany was so grateful, took off her necklace she just got in Tanzania and gave it to me. "Oh no, I can’t take it", I replied. But she insisted and I cherished it and took it carefully back to my seat.

She told me to look up Psalm 46:4-5 which her daughter River was named after.

As we landed I waited til most of the passengers have exited to give her a gift to remember this moment. I gave her my bracelet that read "WJD" (What Jesus Did). Actually that bracelet is what got our conversation started.

What Jesus Did!

He gave us of Himself so we have peace with our Father and joy, and most of all hope.

Many more incredible stories happened on this plane ride from Amsterdam to Atlanta, but this one was one was the best.

Our heavenly Father knows what we need wherever we are. God will provide for His followers, not just our physical needs, but also our emotional needs.

I hope this story encourages you that you can trust our God and that He is in our business, in our mess, pain, and in our life. Whatever is going on in your life, trust in Him and believe. He is our hope and our future and He cares about YOU!

Psalm 46:4-5 (NIV)
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.

Luke 10:27a (ESV)
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’

“Pax Augusta” False and True Peace

Today I want to talk about politics and history! I don’t get involved much with it and truly am not the person who has the most knowledge either. You probably know much more then I do, nor am I even equipped to debate any of you. I also can’t vote as I am only a residence alien in the United States of America.

BUT…

BUT I pray for God’s wisdom and discernment for me and read history.
I want you to read about "Pax Augusta". If that does not ring a bell for you then do a study on Emperor Augustus. He was at the same time in charge over the Roman Empire and yet another King will rule the Earth.

Two kings, one of the world and one of the unseen world.

Both will rule, both fight for peace. But one peace is false and the other is truth.

Luke 2:1 (NIV)
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.

One promised the beginning of the Golden Age, the other the arrival of God’s kingdom.

The question over 2000 years ago was this:

"Should Augustus or Christ be the Savior?"

The Emperor Augustus was celebrated as the Peace Emperor and has made himself to be god. He allowed man to celebrate him as a god.
When people raise a man to be god, then there is disaster. He was the most brutal emperor who suppressed and killed many Jews.

When I see how current leaders and leaders who wish to rule this country promise false peace and not point to God, the true and only peace maker, then I get concerned and share what I have seen, heard, and learned.

Should Obama, Clinton, Trump or Christ be the Savior?

One promised the beginning of the Golden Age, the other the arrival of God’s kingdom.

It seems to me that 2000 years ago replays again in today’s story.
Do you truly believe that Obama, Clinton, or Trump will save America?
Or do we gauge who has the most morals you believe in?
Or who has the most shocking words via CNN, Fox News, or MSNBC?

I look for the baby in the manger, I trust only Jesus to be the One and Only peace-maker for the kingdom to come.

Of course you should place your vote, BUT don’t think this person will save you or bring you peace and the Golden Age. No man will do that! Only Christ will and can!

One promised the beginning of the Golden Age, the other the arrival of God’s kingdom.

Seems to fit today as 2000 years of yesterdays.

What I am trying to say in the short version is that the only peace-maker is Christ Jesus and don’t believe in any false peace. Trust the one who points to Jesus only! That is all! Learn history, start sitting down even if you have not given your life yet to Jesus. Study history, read it, dwell on it. Neither do I want any debates or arguments on my blog or page.
You are probably much smarter then I am, BUT I read God’s Wisdom Book.
The Holy Bible

The Peaceful Kingdom
Isaiah 11:1-9 (GNT)
The royal line of David is like a tree that has been cut down; but just as new branches sprout from a stump, so a new king will arise from among David’s descendants.
The spirit of the Lord will give him wisdom
and the knowledge and skill to rule his people.
He will know the Lord’s will and honor him,
and find pleasure in obeying him.
He will not judge by appearance or hearsay;
he will judge the poor fairly
and defend the rights of the helpless.
At his command the people will be punished,
and evil persons will die.
He will rule his people with justice and integrity.
Wolves and sheep will live together in peace,
and leopards will lie down with young goats.
Calves and lion cubs will feed together,
and little children will take care of them.
Cows and bears will eat together,
and their calves and cubs will lie down in peace.
Lions will eat straw as cattle do.
Even a baby will not be harmed
if it plays near a poisonous snake.
On Zion, God’s sacred hill,
there will be nothing harmful or evil.
The land will be as full of knowledge of the Lord
as the seas are full of water.

Be Jesus

I am only writing this to encourage you to step out of your own comfort zone and not to toot my own horn. I hope you know me better then this.

But if one never tells then another never tries. So here it goes:

Last night was the first time I went out into the city of Bremen, Germany and visited peopled living on the street. It was the first time I touched them, spoke to them, smiled with them, smelled them, and prayed with them.

This is what Jesus did? You mean it didn’t look so nice, smelled nice, and looked all put together like a Sunday worship?

Yes, it is exactly how it was and aren’t we all equipped with the Holy Spirit in us for those who believe. I have way too long not used Him. He has been hiding in there somewhere.

We are Jesus… in us!

I can’t forget the conversations we had with the most broken of broken people. Are you ready to hear it? Are you ready to let your heart be touched?

It was the first for my friend Markus and I visiting people on the street.

The first person we met was Manfred who was sitting on the street right next to the McDonald’s. He and his dog all bundled up with blankets sitting over a vent that pushed out warm air. It was hard to understand him as he was clearly drinking his pain away. His hands looked like they have not seen clean water in a very long time, his head never even looked up.

"What happened", I asked? And he began to mumble his story of being an orphan in Bavaria and talked about the nuns and that he ran away. He never found a good footage in life. We talked about God and how much Jesus loves him, but he responded he felt more kicked in the rear end.

What do you answer a person so broken and dirty sitting there and obviously kicked around in life? Oh, what to say?

You get on your knees with them, you hold their hands and rub your fingers over their calloused knuckles and tell them that Jesus will always love you and it is time you accept His love again if you are broken or not broken, accept His love tonight, hold on to His Word. He then looked up and tried to lock his eyes to yours.

He was way too drunk to read God’s Word, but even if you can’t read it now for whatever reason, then just hold it close to your heart and think about His love. Markus had a blanket ready to give more warmth.

We prayed with Manfred and moved on…

The next person we met was Kurt, he was about his early 60’s or late 50’s and living on a bridge by the windmill. He has been living the streets since 3.5 years. He spoke clearly and was so grateful that someone would stop and strike a conversation with him. He told us a bit about his family and he started crying when he told about both parents are now passed away. I think his parents were his hold in life.

We prayed with Kurt, held his hands and he greatly accepted His love. He spoke about that he loved Jesus and the reverent fear of His Holy Word.

I was surprised how many broken people, homeless people fear and love the Lord and have a smile on their face when you speak to them.

Kurt had a small cup on the street and from time to time a well-dressed person put in a coin or two. Another gentleman stopped and brought food.

He told us that he had no need for a blanket and to give it to another homeless who has none. Kurt also shares the money he makes.

I could not believe it!

He makes on a good day 5 Euros, about the same in dollars and gives one Euro to the one also living on the street and needs a cup of coffee or some food. He shares the little he got.

Markus told him the story about the poor widow who gave it all and Kurt listened to the story attentively.

Kurt smiled and was so happy about a visit, a touch, and God’s Word spoken. We encouraged him to get help and to take the help, to get back off the street and once recovered to help others in need.

But first get help yourself.

I will never forget the smile of Kurt’s. He loves Jesus truly he loves Him.

The next two people we crossed was at another McDonald’s, also laying there sleeping on a vent that pushed out warm air. This one was a bit harder as the smell was lingering as soon as you walked up close to them.

Meet Peter and Christo. Christo is from Poland but spoke German very well. Christo was about in his 40’s and Peter looked like his very early 30’s.

No job, no home, no life…

Just given up in life or no good start. We sat with them for a while and got into a conversation and that we wanted to give them a little Christmas gift. Markus took out two Bibles, two fresh blankets and a bag of goodies. Both sat up and started sharing the cookies. Peter handed Christo a cookie with a large heart on it. It was that moment of sharing and feeding the hurt person next to you that touched me in that moment. Markus and I just looked at each other as it touched us both deeply.

After they were given the Bibles, they both held up the Bibles into the air and said, "There is no other God but Him." Christo said some more, but I can’t even recall all this. It was humbling!

I get the chills just thinking about them both and their words.

They truly loved Him and prayed with us. They thanked us for the visit and just loved a conversation from human to human, a smile, a word of hope and simply knowing there is love out there.

Our walk continued to the Hauptbahnhof, that is the train station. We met Rosie. She is only 27 years young. She sat there with her dog and told us that she might get her apartment very soon. Rosie has been waiting for one and without a residence you can not collect any money for help. There is not enough living space for all. We heard this story over and over that night.

No apartment, no job, no future…

It feels weird to just give someone a Bible and then move on. What good does a Bible do someone when their bellies are hungry, what good does a Bible do someone when they are cold, and what good does a Bible do someone without a touch, a smile, and love?

We asked Rosie if she needs anything, food or something to drink, but she said she is covered for tonight. We prayed with Rosie. I noticed that she kept her eyes wide open while we prayed, she had to guard all her stuff.

So I prayed with my eyes wide open and looked her into her eyes and spoke of Jesus.

We moved on and saw a very young man sitting in pretty decent clothing all sad looking. Just so sad!

We noticed him on our way towards the train station and on our walk back Markus asked him if he was alright.

His name is Maurice and only 22 years old. No job, no apartment. He rotates friends houses where he could spend a night to sleep. He wanted only some coins in his cup.

We invited him in to eat, ordered a meal and sat down with him. He began to talk. His future is wide open still.

He grew up in foster care and said it pains him when he sees the families walk pass him for Christmas shopping and children holding their parent’s hands. He has parents, but was placed in foster care. You could hear that he misses a real hold and home.

Maurice said he believed once in Christ but stopped when his heart grew more and more cold and upset about his start in life.

Holding his hands and looking him deeply into his eyes, praying with him and encouraging him to stop what he is doing and get help, to go to church he was invited to and simply asked the church to take him by the hand and guide him, to direct his steps in life. His eyes light up and said he wants to try Jesus again in his life. I get the chills to recall these images in my mind. His eyes went from dull to hopeful again.

Maurice’s story touched Markus and I a lot, as Markus and Maurice were about the same age, but Maurice never had the same start in life. He had a hard beginning and did not have the hand that guided him to a better future.

It is so easy to walk pass people and place judgment, but when you hear their stories it is almost the same. No start, no hold, no home, no job, no direction in life, no hope, no life, no future…

That night was the first night ever having done something like that and it taught me so much. I hope you forgive me that I spoke about all this as God loves the things we do in secret and our reward will be in heaven. But I hope you see that my heart only wanted to share beauty with you and to encourage you to walk up to strangers, to broken people, to stop them in their tracks and asked if they are alright. I hope I encouraged you to let the Holy Spirit take over of what to say and do not fear to walk the streets in the dark and damp nights and bring hope and love back into another soul’s heart.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Do It Jesus’s Way!

We all had moments when someone hurt you, took advantage of you, abused you, treated you unfairly, betrayed you, or simply snapped at you.

It is so easy to do what the world tells you and snap right back at someone and show them a piece of your mind.

But that is not how Jesus did it.

It took only a visit to the museum the other day and an elderly grumpy man telling me with no respect to be quiet, or the passenger behind me in the airplane who truly pushed a button with me. My flesh wants to lash out and do what the world tells you.

Yeah yeah yeah…you probably have moments like that too. Winking smile

But that is not how Jesus did it.

Aren’t you glad His mercies are new every single morning!

So today when you start your day think of such things.

Keep your eyes on Him with all humility

Hebrews 12:2 (NLT)

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

Oh and by the way, I had to write this all twice. I had this all written out for you so beautifully, and then the computer crashed. Lovely!

Don’t let the devil steal your joy today and keep running your race.

Do it like Jesus did! Winking smile

God’s Holiness

Have you ever sat down and thought about God’s holiness?

Or have you thought about the moment you actually see the holiness of God?

Will you even be able to speak, tremble with reverent fear?

I am thinking about how I plan vacations like my trip right now, how I plan festivities, but what about the moment I meet God one day in person face to face.

If my life is truly about God then my thoughts should be all about this moment when He comes. I believe it will change every action we take, every word spoken, every thought captured, and we slowly become less and He becomes greater.

Sin has no chance, selfishness is out the door, and we relax in Him.

If we were to put on spiritual glasses and truly see the warfare that is going on around us, we would be crushed with fear. God protected us from seeing all this and only told us. He fights battles for us we didn’t even know existed.

Angels around your prayer closet and in other moments. We have much to be thankful for.

Christmas time is so busy. Just put on the breaks, look up to heaven and listen to Him and think about His holiness and how at any time you could meet Him. The Lord could come at any time now. Maybe for all of us or just for one of us. Are you ready for that moment?

If you don’t believe in your Creator, you will still get to meet Him and there is no turning back. Every knee will bow! And your destiny for eternity is whether you believed in our holy God Christ Himself. And those words are not mine. I take His word for it!

I truly believe if my thoughts were like that every day I would be a better wife, a better mother, a better coworker, a better citizen, a better everything!

By my fruits they would recognize Him.

Wow!

I am looking at social media posts and there is great agony about the upcoming presidential candidates, much hurt by evil demon possessed people called ISIS, and many other issues like opinions of worldly matters.

How can one relax? How can you relax in a world gone wacko?

When you think about God’s holiness and that He is in control of all things, you begin to relax in His grace. He gives rest to your weary soul and you lie down in green pastures besides still waters, resting in His grace.

If your heart is full of anxious thoughts, fear, stressed out about this world or children gone astray, fights within the marriage, problems at work, or perhaps at church…then think about His holiness and make that your main focus. Always put your focus on Him and His holiness and rest your soul right there. Drown out all the noises and hear God. Remember He speaks in the whisper.

Do you hear the music in your heart play the song of His holiness and His love? Think about it all day, think about Him non-stop and His love for you.

Then in the quietness you hear His whisper,

"Be still and know that I AM GOD"!

Holy holy holy is the God Almighty!

A Blessing or a Curse?

A blessing or a curse?

Today I traveled with my daughter Rebecca to Raleigh. Time for my checkup at the dentist office for my pearly whites.
We saw so many signs of God on our journey. God is always with us even in the darkest hours.
I saw an incredible sign that I had to stop and take a picture of, it put me behind schedule a bit, but I had to take the picture.
Getting into the parking lot I parked the car and looking straight ahead a lady 19 years old crossing the street, not paying attention…

A dump truck driving the same road…a flying body into the air and blood gushing out her head…I screamed, my daughter so innocent in life, she screamed…I will never forget those images of today.
I felt bad that I even took her with me today, is it a blessing or a curse?
We prayed right away, a loud scream out to Jesus was our prayer…

She is breathing the EMS worker told me who now had to treat us for a shock.
She is breathing…Lord, thank you!

I ran into the dental office that a person got hit and many ran out to help with CPR, but an off-duty paramedic was right there at that time.
My knees were weak…I cried…"please call on Jesus", I said.

We spend the day in Raleigh to get over this a bit before driving back and my sweet child ask the waiter, "what can we pray for you?". She learned that from our dear Pastor Phil. Thank you!
The waiter said, "I am alright", but then got on his knees and prayed with us.

Later we drove back home and needed a rest stop, we saw a lady with a mask. Obviously she was very ill and protecting herself. She might have just gotten chemo and drove all alone…

We stopped her and asked, "Mam, can we pray for you?" She responded, "Oh, thank you yes". Her name is Julia and we wept together in a rest-stop on our way home.

So, is all this a curse or a blessing?

Oh my friends, today was so very very very hard, but it was a blessing!
Today we prayed breath into a 19 year old girl, we prayed with a waiter who said he is very well known by the police, and we prayed with Julia who is going through all this chemo alone.

We are blessed!
